Tasting Notes

Expressive and full of character, with aromas of meadow flowers, green apple, and melon, complemented by a subtle straw-like note. Tight and mineral on the palate, with fresh acidity and a dry, slightly saline finish.

Food Pairing

An exquisite gastronomic white wine. Delicious with fish, shellfish and crustaceans, salads, asparagus, risotto, and light pasta dishes. Also pairs beautifully with dishes featuring fresh herbs. Serve at 10–12 °C.

About the Winery

Casavecchia: a family winery with centuries-old roots in Diano d'Alba

At the top of a hill in Diano d'Alba, at an altitude of about 500 meters, lies the Casavecchia winery. The building in the village center dates back to the end of the 18th century and is constructed from Langhe stone and antique brick. The wines age in the cellar, under brick vaults and wooden beamed ceilings. It is a winery with a tradition spanning more than a hundred years.

Family business
Casavecchia is managed by brothers Marco and Luca, an agronomist and a winemaker, respectively. Their father, Sergio, and Carlo are still on hand to provide guidance and support. Sales are handled by Carletta Artusio and her daughter, Elisa. All wines are made exclusively from their own grapes, grown on approximately 10 hectares.

Wines from the Langhe
Around Diano d'Alba, the grapes are grown for a rich assortment: Barolo, Nebbiolo d'Alba, and Barbera d'Alba, as well as the Dolcetto, which is simply called Diano d'Alba here. This Dolcetto is still aged in concrete tanks and is known for its structure, fruity character, and longevity. Barbera, Nebbiolo, and Barolo are aged in oak, in barrels of various sizes.

View of Barolo
From the hill, you can see the amphitheater-shaped hills of Barolo and the city of Alba to the west, the hills of Moscato and Barbaresco to the east, and the Alps in the distance.

Vineyard

The Nascetta comes from Diano d’Alba, where this rare indigenous grape is grown outside of the better-known Novello area. Its location in the Langhe hills gives the wine freshness and tension.

Vinification & Ageing

The wine is crafted with the aim of preserving the pure, fresh character of the Nascetta. Aging without dominant oak influence keeps the wine tight, mineral, and aromatic.

Ageing Potential

Nascetta is known for its excellent bottle aging potential. This wine is lively and fresh now, but can continue to develop for several more years. Drink now to approximately 4–5 years after the harvest.
