Tasting Notes

Aromas of ripe red cherry, dried roses, violets, and subtle balsamic notes. Elegant and powerful on the palate, with ripe tannins, fresh acidity, and a long, refined finish. A classic Cannubi with finesse and depth.

Food Pairing

Wonderful with pappardelle with game ragout, roasted quail, and veal with sage jus. Also particularly lovely with porcini risotto, truffle dishes, and aged cheeses such as Castelmagno. Serve at 17 °C.

About the Winery

Fratelli Barale is a classic family business in the heart of Barolo, with a history dating back to 1870. For generations, the family has worked with the same dedication to their land and the Nebbiolo grape, today led by Sergio Barale and his daughters Eleonora and Gloria.<!--en-->The vineyards are located in renowned crus such as Castellero, Cannubi, Bussia, and Costa di Rose. Each plot has its own character, resulting in nuanced and distinctive Barolos.<!--en-->In the cellar, they opt for a traditional approach, with long aging in large wooden barrels. The wines are elegant and structured, with notes of red fruit, flowers, and earthy nuances, and they develop beautifully over the years.<!--en-->Fratelli Barale stands for calm, honest Barolo – rooted in family, history, and terroir.<!--en-->

Vineyard

Originating from Cannubi in Barolo, one of the most renowned MGAs in the area. The southeastern exposure and calcareous, fossil-rich soil give the Nebbiolo elegance, freshness, and a refined structure.

Vinification & Ageing

Traditionally made with spontaneous fermentation and approximately 30 days of maceration in large wooden vats. The wine is then aged for three years in medium-sized French oak barrels, followed by at least 12 months of bottle aging. This long maturation ensures harmony and complexity.

Ageing Potential

The 2015 has now developed beautifully, combining ripe fruit with fresh acidity and refined tannins. Attractive to drink now, but it can develop further. Can be cellared until approximately 2035–2040.
