ANSELMA GIACOMO

Anselma is a small historic winery from Serralunga and has been intertwined with the village for many years. The daily management is in the hands of the friendly Franco and his wife Maria, who, in addition to being good neighbors, have also become good friends of ours in recent years. Franco's sister manages "Ristorante Albergo Italia", a household name in Serralunga. The Anselma's cantina is located underneath the restaurant, so in the past the wines for the restaurant were literally taken from the cantina. A small tasting room was built next to the restaurant in 2012, where Maria is in charge.

Great-grandfather Giacomo started making wine for the same restaurant at the beginning of the 20th century. The Anselmas produce the authentic wines of the Langhe in a traditional way; Dolcetto, Barbera, Nebbiolo and Barolo, with grapes from quality vineyards; Vignarionda and Collaretto, just outside Serralunga. It should certainly not go unmentioned that they own the most authentic part of Vignarionda. We are proud to be the exclusive importer of this beautiful small and characteristic family business. The Anselma's way of making wine can be called traditional, to say the least. Dolcetto and Barbera are aged in steel for a number of months and the Nebbiolo wines are all aged in large wooden barrels, the traditional "botte" as they are called in Piedmont. For the Barolos they use a long fermentation period of almost a month and then the Barolo Classico is aged for 24 months, the Collaretto Riserva for 5 years and the VignaRionda Riserva for no less than 7 years, all in the aforementioned blunt grande. After a year of bottle maturation, the Anselma Baroli are finally ready to go out into the wide world. These are the real Barolo wines as they were made 100 years ago, wines that you can let rest for 20 to 30 years while they will only get better.
