Fratelli Abrigo

The Fratelli Abrigo winemaking family from Diano d'Alba among the vines of their vineyard in Piedmont.

The Abrigo winery is a true family business with a rich history dating back to 1935. That year, Ernesto Abrigo, the grandfather of the current owner, arrived in Diano d'Alba, in the hamlet of Berfi, where the winery is still located today.

The winery is situated on a cliff-like ridge southeast of Diano d'Alba itself (exactly between the Barolo and Barbaresco regions) with a panoramic view of the eastern flank of Serralunga. In recent years, the house, led by his son Walter, has undergone a modernization that has given the wines a boost in quality.

They produce around 50,000 bottles annually, and the Dolcetto wines, in particular, are of high quality. The two Diano d'Alba DOCG wines that the house produces come from vines that are over 40 years old. The Superiore is made from a hand-picked selection and has an aging potential of decades, which is extremely long for this grape variety.
