Bussia | Barolo MGA

At nearly 300 hectares, Bussia is one of the largest MGAs in the entire Barolo appellation, stretching across the municipalities of Barolo and Monforte d'Alba, from the hill of Pugnane to the hamlet of Sant'Eligio — a distance of over 4 kilometers and an elevation difference of approximately 250 meters.
Despite its size, the soil is relatively homogeneous: primarily sandy Sant'Agata Fossili marl, with Diano sandstone in the higher areas and more compact marl in the lowest zones. This partially explains why many Bussia wines share a certain density and austerity, often with an earthy tone that requires time to give way to more refined, complex aromas.
