Ravera | Barolo MGA

Ravera spans the municipalities of Barolo and Novello and has seen its reputation rise sharply in recent years, partly due to climate change, which benefits this naturally cooler, late-ripening area. The heart of the MGA, around Cascina Nuova and Bricco Pernice, forms a natural watershed that closes off the Barolo valley to the south, creating its own microclimate, with altitudes of up to over 480 meters.
The soil consists predominantly of layered Sant'Agata Fossili marl, with sandy marl and Diano sandstone in the highest parts. This gives Ravera a cooler, yet at the same time concrete and deep fruit style — with more weight and gratification than, for example, the higher-situated Bricco delle Viole.
