About the Winery

An infinitely winding road leads you past various postcard-worthy views through the hamlet of Parafada towards Gabutti, home to the Boassos, a winery that has gained tremendously in quality over recent years. Namesake and winemaker Franco, together with his sons Ezio and Claudio, has managed to elevate their Barolos in particular to a higher level. This is certainly aided by the fact that they come from the famous Gabutti, Margheria, and Lazzarito vineyards—long-standing, important crus in Serralunga. In addition to the red wines, they offer a wonderful Arneis from a beautifully situated vineyard in the Roero and a Moscato d’Asti from Serralunga.

In addition to the cantina, which produces 30,000 bottles of wine, the family manages an agriturismo, which, like their private home, is situated right between the Gabutti and Gabutti-Marianot vineyards, a stone's throw from Serralunga.

Since they began bottling under their own label, the Boasso winery has worked in the traditional manner: a long period of maceration and fermentation followed by aging for at least 36 months in large wooden barrels (botte). We are the sole importer of the wines from this wonderful family business in the Netherlands, and we are proud of it. In addition to the Barolo, they also produce a delicious Dolcetto, Barbera Superiore, and Langhe Nebbiolo, as well as an authentic Arneis from the Roero region and a Moscato d’Asti from a field in Serralunga(!)

Vineyard

A classic blend of parcels in Lazzarito, Cerrati and Meriame in Serralunga d’Alba. The combination of these three origins gives the wine both power and structure as well as depth and complexity.

Vinification & Ageing

100% Nebbiolo, traditionally fermented for 25 days with long maceration. The Barolo is then aged for at least 36 months in large oak barrels (botte). This classic aging process allows the powerful tannins to gradually refine.

Ageing Potential

The combination of firm tannins, long oak aging, and the excellent 2021 vintage gives this Barolo outstanding aging potential. Already powerful and full of character, it can certainly be cellared for 14–18 years after the harvest.
