Briccotto was Domenico Clerico's first step into the Champions League of Barolo. In 1978, the young and passionate winemaker purchased his first plot: Briccotto, located in the Bussia Soprana of Monforte d’Alba. The vines were planted in 1965, at approximately 330 meters above sea level with a southern exposure. The soil—a combination of sand, clay, loess (silt and sand), and a significant amount of limestone—is ideal for Nebbiolo. Since the inaugural 1978 vintage, Briccotto has been produced only in years with optimal climatic conditions, 13 times in the winery's history (including 2021). Production is very limited: approximately 2,000 bottles per vintage. Briccotto is considered one of the most elegant and refined Barolos: silky tannins, a subtle structure, and surprisingly long aging potential.
Only 1000 bottles of this Barolo are produced.
Please note: for purchases of 3 bottles, the wine is delivered in a wooden crate. (See photo 2)
