The wine
The deep yellow color with red reflections already betrayed the intensity of this wine. Aroma of peach and pineapple. Complex and concentrated. Full body and extremely juicy.

UGO LEQUIO
Ugo Lequio is a different story. Despite not owning any vines, he started his own "garage" winery in 1981. He was born and raised as the youngest son in a winemaking family from Neive. His birthplace is located directly opposite the famous Barbaresco cru Gallina. This way he knew exactly which vineyards produced the most beautiful grapes and would therefore produce the best wines. Those plots were owned by the Marcarino Family. Since Ugo's brother, as the eldest child in the family, acquired the family vineyards, Ugo had no other option than to buy good quality grapes and thus be able to make wine himself. to make. He also started buying Barbera grapes from the aforementioned vineyard. Only after years of building a relationship was he able to convince the Marcarino family to also sell part of the Nebbiolo grapes, which previously went to legend winemaker Bruno Giacosa, to him.
Ugo does everything himself, including supervision of the vineyard management. His grape selection is meticulous and his winemaking very traditional. He matures his wines longer than the prescribed rules in large wooden bottes and in his "garage" at home. He is a perfectionist through and through and that produces beautiful, high-quality wines. Ugo favors macerating his wines until all the sugar has been converted into alcohol. A method that produces deep and complex wines.
He is a true artisan and makes incredible wines. For example, Kerin O'keefe wrote about his Ugo and his Arneis; "A fantastic expression of Arneis from one of the Langhe's top and shockingly still-under-the-radar producers"
