Cru (MGA) MARENCA
Marenca has the shape of an amphitheatre, is located in Serralunga and is flanked by the hamlet of Garombo, Serralunga itself and on the other side the shadow side of Vigna Rionda. It is one of the smallest crus within the Barolo appellation. Connoisseurs (both Renato Ratti and Masnaghetti) agree that Marenca produces complex and concentrated fruit and is one of the better crus from Serralunga, 91% of Marenca is planted with Nebbiolo. The small cru (7.46 ha) is divided between Gaja and Luigi Pira, the latter of which is the only one to produce a Barolo Cru.
