Margheria | Barolo MGA

The vineyards of Margheria are located on the western flank of the municipality of Serralunga d'Alba, on south- to southwest-facing slopes between approximately 240 and 335 meters in altitude. The soils consist primarily of calcareous marl of the Formazione di Lequio, a geological formation from the Late Miocene.
Barolos from Margheria are generally characterized by a powerful structure, ripe tannins, and good freshness. At the same time, the MGA is known for a relatively refined, floral expression within Serralunga d'Alba. Depending on the location within the MGA, the wines can differ in style: the western plots often yield a slightly more accessible and elegant profile, while the southern vineyards provide more concentration and structure.
Margheria is situated between the Marenca and Vigna Rionda MGAs and is part of the central western slope of Serralunga d'Alba. The combination of location, exposure, and soil results in Barolos with a distinct terroir character, a firm structure, and good aging potential.
