The Wine
Smooth, immensely layered, and full-bodied! The Barolo 2020 by Stefano Porro. The cooler location of the Cerrati vineyard provides a very fresh Barolo expression. Harmonious, with fully ripe fruit and a hint of Eastern spices. Full-bodied with a lingering sensation on the palate. Magnificent.

STEFANO PORRO
The new crown prince of Serralunga is Stefano Porro. His grandfather inherited exactly one hectare in 1966, and since 2019, Stefano has been tending, nurturing, and cherishing this land, cultivating grapes for his Nebbiolo and Dolcetto wines.
The vineyard, 25-30 years old, lies adjacent to the prestigious Brea cru, which is entirely managed by the renowned winery Brovia. The fruit for his Barbera comes from an old vineyard in Monforte, owned by his uncle.
All vineyard work is done manually, with minimal intervention—organic and as natural as possible. For instance, he uses bull's blood, an organic fertilizer, to enrich the soil. During harvest, grapes are hand-selected by Stefano himself, following an initial selection in August, where about 40% of the fruit is pruned away.
In the winery, the approach remains as natural as possible, with no added yeasts and gentle, manual pressing of the grapes. Currently, Stefano ages his Nebbiolo wines in tonneaux, but once production allows, he plans to transition to the traditional botte.
Stefano’s star is on the rise, and his wines are in high demand—yet scarce due to the small production. Sales are strictly by order and pre-registration, and each year, he gradually increases production. His ultimate goal is to reach 7,000 bottles per year, which represents the full capacity of his small winery.
