NOVELLO

Novello is the Barolo village most south-westerly in the appellation. After Novello there is nothing but flat land up to the French-Italian Alps. It is a somewhat sleepy village, but is experiencing a real rise in terms of wines. Who says Novello, says Nascetta and those wines have been very popular in recent years. This combined with the aromatically smooth Barolos that the "younger" soil of Novello produces makes Novello very "in" at the moment. By far the most famous winery in the municipality and patron of the Nascetta grape is Elvio Cogno, but a number of talented young winemakers have also emerged recently, such as Rainieri and Merenda Sinoira.

Novello produces smooth, aromatic wines, partly due to its younger soil. The most famous cru in the municipality is Ravera, which is also partly located in Barolo.
