CASTIGLIONE FALLETTO

Castiglione Falletto in Piedmont, with the historic castle surrounded by the vineyards of the Langhe.

Castiglione Falletto is located on the ridge between the villages of Barolo, Serralunga, and Monforte, in the heart of the Barolo region, on the middle of the three ridges filled with Nebbiolo vines. Its skyline is dominated by the beautiful castle, which is visible from the entire region. The Barolos originating from here are generally considered the perfect Barolo blend, featuring the deep aromas of La Morra and Barolo combined with the structure and tannins of Serralunga and Monforte. It perhaps goes without saying that this varies within the municipal MGAs.

Renowned wineries include Vietti, Cavallotto, Brovia, and Azelia, all top-tier estates producing incredible Barolos. Castiglione is highly regarded for its vineyards; just think of the MGA sites Monprivato, Villero, and Rocche di Castiglione. One of the most famous spots in the village is La Terrazza da Renza, an almost mythical place with a fantastic view where you can have lunch among the winemakers. The fantastic bottega featuring all the wines from Castiglione was one of our favorite places for an aperitivo, but it is unfortunately closed indefinitely.

What to do in Castiglione Falletto:

  • lunch at Terrazza da Renza
  • visit the Azelia, Brovia, or Cavallotto wineries
  • dine at Le Torri
  • walk around the castle and enjoy the panoramic views all around
  • shop for wine at Le Mura di San Rocco
