EVENTS & ACTIVITIES
In the Langhe, Roero and Monferrato you can enjoy yourself almost all year round with all kinds of activities and events. Many of these revolve around gastronomy.
Below are the most important ones:
March
Alba Music Festival
A series of spring concerts from early March to late May.
April
Vinum
Food and Wine Festival with a series of events in the streets and squares of the historic center of Alba, is held in late April/early May.
May
Barbaresco a tavola
Three consecutive Fridays in May. A dozen local restaurants in Barbaresco and Alba offer the opportunity to taste the new Barbaresco vintage with fixed-price menus: about 20 wines are presented blind every evening.
Festa della Barbera
Castagnole delle Lanze opens its beautiful old courtyards for a big party around Barbera with local wine producers, food stalls and lots of music.
June
Alba Jazz Festival
Long weekend of jazz around the city of Alba.
Collisioni
Music festival / Agri Rock, previously in Barolo itself but moved to Alba in 2022.
July
Monforte Jazz Festival
Open Jazz Festival in the historic amphitheater of Monforte d'Alba, from the beginning of July to the end of August.
September
Palio di Asti
Historic horse race in Asti that predates the famous version of Siena.
Douja d'Or
Annual festival of food, wine, art and other cultural events in Asti.
Slow Cheese
Every two years - on odd years - Bra closes its streets and opens its doors for a massive cheese festival. The event has grown so much over the years that everything is now available: artisanal beers and spirits, all kinds of food, workshops and so on. October
Alba International White Truffle Fair
Festival around the White Truffle of Alba that runs from early October to December. Not to be missed are the bachanaal (the evening meal in the borgos of Alba) and the Palio of Alba for which donkeys are used.
Salone del Gusto
Held in years when there is no Slow Cheese festival. This is a great opportunity to try all kinds of gastronomic products from all over the world and to attend masterclasses, workshops and other activities to learn more about them.
Piacere Barbaresco
Series of tastings spread over a number of weekends in October and November, with different producers presenting their new vintages each weekend.
Degusta La Morra
About 30 winegrowers present their wines in the old streets of cozy La Morra.
Cugna Festival Serralunga
A weekend-long party around this local product.
November
Costigliole d'Asti - Barbera, I Gusto del Territorio
4-day Barbera tasting festival in early November. The largest Barbera tasting festival in the world. At least 100 producers and more than 200 wines.
