Verduno

Verduno is located on the northern edge of the Barolo area just before you drop into the Po Valley. The village sits compactly atop a hill and, much like Novello, is a bit of a loner. From the green Belvedere, you have a magnificent view over the vineyards of Barolo, the Roero, and the Alps.
Verduno is especially unique due to the combination of two wines that are strongly linked to the village. In addition to Barolo, it is the cradle of the Verduno Pelaverga.
The most famous winery in Verduno is undoubtedly Comm. G.B. Burlotto. The estate was founded in 1850 by Giovan Battista Burlotto and is one of the historic names of Barolo. Moreover, Burlotto played an important role in preserving the Pelaverga.
For Barolo, Monvigliero is the most important MGA of Verduno. This south-facing hill is considered the best vineyard in the village, and wonderful Barolos are made there. The light, loose Sant’Agata marl and the location generally ensure Barolos that are elegant and aromatic rather than heavy and powerful, with lots of flowers, red fruit, and spice.
