The wine
Traditional Barolo from the authentic Cascina Ballarin winery from La Morra. The grapes for this sturdy Barolo from the already legendary Barolo year 2016 come from the hilltop of the Bricco Rocca vineyard next to their cantina . In the glass a bright ruby red color with orange nuances. In the nose; cherries and violets, hint of licorice and roses. Nicely present spicy tannin in the mouth, dry, full and slightly spicy. Long aftertaste. Lots of storage potential but already fantastic!

CASCINA BALLARIN
Just under a kilometer before the village border of Barolo, but still in the commune of La Morra, is the hamlet of the Viberti family, better known as Cascina Ballarin. The name of the winery comes from the fact that the father of brothers Giorgio and Giovanni was a gifted dancer. The winery located at the foot of the Bricco Rocca vineyard with a view of la Morra is still a real family business. In addition to the new generation, even the nonna still contributes. In addition to his work for Cascina Ballarin, son Alberto is busy putting his own label on the map. Father Giorgio plays in the local brass band and in addition to the winery they run a small campsite, guest rooms and a number of studio apartments in the heart of La Morra. One of our first introductions to the Langhe was with the Viberti family and they have since become good friends.
The Vibertis produce about 50,000 bottles of wine per year, including 2 cru Barolos. One comes from the famous Bussia vineyard where they own a piece of land at the beginning of the ridge near Barolo. This is matured in the modern way in small oak. The Bricco Rocca comes from the aforementioned hill of the same name next to their wine estate and is traditionally made with maturation in botte. It is a house where quality has increasingly emerged over the years.
