ODDERO LUIGI

Figli Luigi Oddero is a historic winery located on the north-western side of La Morra in the municipality of Santa Maria. The house is a split from the original Oddero house, from which the Oddero brothers started making wine separately. The namesake passed away in 2010 and today his wife Lena and children Maria and Giovanni are at the helm.
The name Oddero is one of those legendary names that have been around the Langhe since time immemorial. Luigi himself was a man of the old school without closing his eyes to modernizations that would make his wines better. Nevertheless, only long fermentation times and large bots are still used for maturation. They make a range of red wines from the native grapes of the Langhe and own a total of approximately 32 hectares (18 hectares of Nebbiolo), a fairly large house for us, but in this case we looked purely at the quality, and quality is there. . All Oddero wines are pure and honest, you can taste the terroir and the grape. They are also elegant wines, light (both in color and taste) with many nuances and depth. They own vineyards in La Morra, Serralunga and Castiglione Falletto. The Barbaresco comes from orchards in Treiso and the Moscato from Trezzo Tinella.
The house makes a Barolo Vigna Rionda (Serralunga), a Barolo Rocche Rivera (Castiglione Falletto) and a Barolo Classico from vineyards in the aforementioned three municipalities.
The Barolo Specola (named after the famous tower that rises among the vines of Oddero and is the symbol of the winery) comes from the cru Rive in Santa Maria.
